In an attempt to break down our shot at NCAA bids, I'm gonna try to walk through the AutoBid selections. Here Goes:
There are 3 components to be used for status qualification:
1. Coaches poll position
2. Win %
3. RPI
Coaches poll position is valid for any wrestler provided they have wrestled a match 30 days prior to the selection. Win % requires 8 total matches to count. RPI requires 17 total matches to count.
29 total Auto-Bids will be given out, with every conference receiving 1 bid for each weight class at a minimum. The remaining bids will come from the 3 components. Standards for all 3 data points may be adjusted so that 29 wrestlers will be selected. A base point is usually:
1. Top 33 in coaches
2. 0.700 win %
3. Top 33 RPI
This however could be adjusted, for example:
1. Top 20 coaches
2. 0.600 win %
3. Top 20 RPI
Im going to assume the first 33, 0.700, 33 is the standard this year. Wrestlers who make all 3 are referred to as gold status, 2 of 3 as silver, and 1 of 3 bronze. With that in mind, gold and high silver are pretty much guaranteed auto bids. Here are our wrestlers:
Dance: Coaches = 3, Win % = 96, RPI = 3 Gold status
Gustafson: Coaches = NR, Win % = 66 (if forfeit is counted), RPI = Will not qualify No status
Chishko: Coaches = 7, Win % = 89, RPI = 8 Gold Status
Mastriani: Coaches = NR, Win % = 50, RPI = NR No status
Brascetta: Coaches = 7, Win % = 71, RPI = Will not qualify Silver Status
McFadden: Coaches = 12, Win % = 68, RPI = 16, Silver Status
Epperly: Coaches = 11, Win % = 89, RPI = Will not Qualify Silver Status
Zavatsky: Coaches 6, Win % = 84, RPI = 8, Gold Status
Haught: Coaches = 9, Win % = 75, RPI = 7,Gold Status
Walz: Coaches = 2, Win % = 95, RPI = 2, Gold Status
So pretty clear cut, Mastriani and Gus are gonna have to make noise at ACCs, though gus is in better shape than i previously though. [Post edited by Jerseyhokie29 at 02/15/2016 2:17PM]
